Man Killed, Second Wounded In Drive-By Shooting In Studio City Parking Lot

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A man was killed and a second man wounded in a drive-by shooting near a CVS Pharmacy in Studio City late Thursday night.

Just after 11 p.m. Los Angeles police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of a Vons grocery store and CVS Pharmacy in the 4000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, near its intersection with Ventura Boulevard.

Officers arrived on scene to find two men, ages 50 and 28, with multiple gunshots wounds. Both were taken to hospitals, were the older man died, police said. The younger man is in stable condition.

The man who was killed is from Canoga Park. His name was not released.

Police learned the two victims were standing next to a car talking when a gray vehicle pulled up alongside and someone inside opened fire on them. The vehicle then sped away.

Detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance video.

It's unclear what the motive may have been.
