Man shot by deputies in West Hollywood
A man was hospitalized after he was shot by deputies at the West Hollywood Gateway shopping center on Saturday evening.
The incident happened just before 6 p.m. in the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies were called to the area for reports of a domestic violence assault, an updated press release revealed on Monday. They began to speak with the victim upon arrival, and while doing so saw the alleged suspect.
"The deputies contacted the suspect and attempted to detain him," the release said. "The suspect resisted and a physical altercation ensued, at which time a Deputy involved shooting occurred."
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is said to be in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the lower torso, deputies said.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Detectives did not release additional information as their investigation continues.
