Man Shot And Killed Outside Stanton Motel Room, Homicide Detectives Investigating

STANTON (CBSLA) — Homicide detectives were investigating at a Stanton motel Monday after a male victim was fatally shot outside of a room.

Orange County Sheriff Department deputies were dispatched to the Villa Motel on the 11000 block of Beach Blvd at approximately 1:15 p.m. for an unknown disturbance.

According to the OC sheriff's office, the caller stated that someone had been shot.

Deputies arrived and discovered an adult male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Once we had secured the scene, we went and checked all the surrounding buildings and businesses," Stanton police Chief Lt. Nathan Wilson said. "Obviously there's a daycare that's just south of the location, and so we went and made contact to make sure that nobody in the surrounding area was affected."

Police said the daycare and motel residents were safe, but they said they would be increasing patrols in the area until the suspect in the killing was caught.

"We are utilizing all of our specialty details to go out and kind of canvas the area, and we're looking at the individuals that are involved with this — being the victim and anybody else that may be associated with trying to identify a suspect," Wilson said.

Detectives said they believe the suspect knew the victim, and they don't believe the public is in danger.

Anyone with information is asked to call the OC sheriff's office.
