Man killed during drive-by shooting in North Hollywood residential area

Authorities have identified the man fatally shot in what appeared to be a targeted shooting in North Hollywood on Friday.

Police are investigating a shooting death in North Hollywood. There is no preliminary suspect information. KCAL News

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the shooting, located in the 6100 block of Carpenter Avenue in North Hollywood, at around 3:25 p.m. 

Arriving officers found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

He has been identified as 52-year-old Mario Palacios. The shooting is believed to have occurred across the street from his home. 

"The investigation reveled the victim was walking south on Carpenter Avenue when a vehicle pulled up alongside the victim," said a statement from LAPD. "A single shot was fired from inside the vehicle, striking the victim."

The suspect is said to have fled north along Carpenter Ave. following the shooting. 

There is no suspect information, but detectives are reviewing home surveillance footage in the area.
