Man Shot And Killed By Police In Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Police shot and killed a man in Boyle Heights Tuesday evening.

The shooting happened near the intersection of North Breed Street and East Cesar Chavez Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Walgreens and other nearby businesses were shut down because of the shooting, along with streets in the area.

LAPD detectives say two officers from the gang unit were chasing a man with a gun when the shooting occurred. Police said the gun was recovered at the scene.

Detectives said the officers were wearing body cameras. Dash cameras and security cameras may also have been recording during the shooting, according to police. No video from the incident has been released.

No officers were hurt.
