Man Rescued From Rain-Swollen Wilbur Wash

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A man was rescued Thursday from the Wilbur Wash, where a fast-moving current nearly swept him away.

A firefighter waded into the rain-swollen wash around 7:25 p.m. to retrieve the man, who had been clinging to a wall of the channel near Wilbur Avenue and Parthenia Street, in Northridge, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Robert Hinojosa said.

The man was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The firefighter was also transported to a hospital to be examined as a precautionary measure.
