Man Pleads Not Guilty To Firing At LAPD Officer, Others
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 50-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to shooting a Los Angeles police officer and another man earlier this week.
City News Service reports that Cliff A. Gershowitz entered the plea Thursday to three counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
A criminal complaint alleges that Gershowitz shot and injured an acquaintance during an argument then fled from police with a pit bull on Monday morning.
Prosecutors say Gershowitz opened fire on two officers after they confronted him, hitting one of them in the arm. The officer had only minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital. Police said they did not fire on the suspect.
The other man was shot in the arm and leg, but survived.
