Man On Dirt Bike Accused Of Leading Deputies On Pursuit At 90 MPH

YUCCA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A man accused of leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit in Yucca Valley has been arrested after crashing into a wash.

Deputies say it all began after they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the bike just after 1:40 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the chase lasted for approximately 2.5 miles and the suspect's speeds reached in excess of 90 miles per hour.

The pursuit, deputies say, traveled through residential streets, and even into the desert.

It ended after the suspect crashed into a wash near La Contenta Road and Sunnyslope Drive.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Timothy Smith of Joshua Tree, was then arrested and booked on suspicion of felony evasion.
