Man Killed In Yorba Linda Deputy-Involved Shooting

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com/AP) — An Orange County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a driver in the parking lot of a Yorba Linda hotel on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old man was shot at around 1 p.m. Monday outside of the Extended Stay America hotel in Yorba Linda.

He was sitting in a Toyota Carolla when he was shot, and later pronounced dead at the hospital. His name hasn't been released.

The mane was alone and authorities haven't said whether he was armed.

No deputies were harmed.

The shooting shook up Extended Stay guests.

"It freaks me out to know I'm living in a place where someone just got shot," said Melissa Garner, a guest.

Another guest echoed her unease.

"We've been traveling this way for the last 5-6 years and never imagined something like this would happen," guest Kim Evans said.
