Man Killed On Northbound 5 Freeway In Commerce

COMMERCE (CBSLA.com) — A 62-year-old man died Wednesday after he was struck by a vehicle on the northbound 5 Freeway in Commerce.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the crash unfolded around 4:43 a.m. just north of Garfield Avenue.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities have subsequently closed two lanes until further notice.

CBS2's Stephanie Simmons reported the SigAlert has caused a four-mile backup to occur.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
