Man Killed By Suspected DUI Driver In Downtown LA

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was reportedly killed by a suspected drunken driver early Saturday morning in Downtown LA.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. at the intersection of West Pico Boulevard and South Flower Street, according to the LA Police Department.

Police say a man driving a silver car slammed into a red car, pushing it onto the tracks of the Metro light rail line.

A passenger in the red car was trapped and a sheriff's deputy stayed and comforted him as firefighters worked to extricate get him from the vehicle.

Crews were able to pull the man out of the wreckage but he later died from his injuries.

Two people in the silver car suffered minor injuries.

LAPD investigators say they suspect the driver of the silver car may have been under the influence, but have not made any arrests in the case.

The Blue and Expo Metro trains were shut down until approximately 9 a.m. as crews worked to clear the tracks.
