Man Killed After Car Collides With Parked Big Rig In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in the San Gabriel Valley.

The man was driving northbound on Fair Oaks Avenue just before 3 a.m. when he swerved into the southbound lanes and collided with a big rig, Pasadena police said.

The driver of the semi has just exited his truck minutes before the crash.

"He was actually outside unloading goods off the side ramp of the vehicle so he was within about 10 feet of where the collision occurred, very close to being struck," Lt. Pete Hetterna said.

Police have closed Fair Oaks Avenue in both directions between Glen Arms Street and California Boulevard.

Authorities believe speed was a factor in the crash.
