Man In Wheelchair Shot And Killed In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man in a wheelchair was shot and killed in South Los Angeles, police said Friday.

The confrontation happened Thursday afternoon after around 1:44 p.m. in the 6800 block of 11th Avenue.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Damon Leroy.

Los Angeles police said in a statement that Leroy was approached by a black male in his 30s.

"After a five minute verbal conversation the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times in the torso," according to the statement.

Leroy was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the shooting may be gang-related.
