Man Found Shot To Death In Del Rey Identified

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man who was killed in a possible gang-related shooting in the Del Rey area was identified Tuesday.

Tomas Gomez, 21, of Los Angeles, died at the scene of the crash, which happened about 8:25 p.m. Monday in the 4700 block of Slauson Avenue, near Braddock Drive, according to Los Angeles police officials.

Gomez was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup near Inglewood and Jefferson boulevards when he was shot, police said. He eventually crashed into some parked vehicles in the Del Rey area.

"The victim kept driving after he was shot and made it to Slauson and Braddock where he finally died," LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.

The attack may have been gang related, he said.

Police have no description of the shooter or the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information on the crime can call West Bureau homicide detectives at (213) 382-9470, or (877) LAPD-247.
