Man Formally Charged With Vandalizing Trump's Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

LOS ANGELES  (CBSLA.com)   —  The man who took a sledgehammer and pickaxe to Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has formally been charged with vandalism.

The LA County District Attorney's Office said James Lamber Otis, 52, was charged Thursday.

Otis faces one felony count of vandalism over $400 damage in the case.

Otis is scheduled to be arraigned  Friday in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Otis, dressed as a city worker, obliterated the star on October 26.  The DA also said he allegedly removed a brass medallion from the middle of the star.

If convicted as charged, Otis could face a possible maximum sentence of three years in jail. Bail is recommended at $20,000.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, the DA said.
