Man Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train Traveling From LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives continued their investigation Saturday into the circumstances surrounding the death of a pedestrian fatally struck by an Amtrak train last night.

Officials explained the train was traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle, Wash., Friday night when it struck a male pedestrian near the Auburn Station, located about 25 miles from the train's final destination.

Investigators reported the train was delayed for about two hours while detectives processed the scene.

Witnesses reported they shouted at a man to stop walking across the tracks, but he didn't listen.

His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.
