Man Killed By Train In Ventura

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A man died after he was struck by a train in Ventura, authorities said.

The Ventura City Fire Department said in a written statement that firefighters were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of California Street and Harbor Boulevard shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.

When crews arrived, they found the victim's body underneath an Amtrak train, according to the statement.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.

California Street and Harbor Boulevard were expected to remain closed until at least 9 p.m. while authorities investigate.
