Man Fatally Shot Outside Mother's Pacoima Apartment Complex
PACOIMA (CBSLA.com) — A man was fatally shot early Tuesday morning outside his mother's Pacoima apartment complex.
The shooting was reported at 12:20 a.m. in the 12700 block of Branford Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
When officers responded to the complex, they found a man in the parking lot who was unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses said two men walked up to the victim and shot him.
He was transported to a local hospital where he died after surgery.
The unidentified victim, who was in his 30s, was a former resident of the complex and was there visiting, police said.
Witnesses led officials to where one potential suspect was last seen and "officers searched the location and found the individual hiding beneath a car in a carport," Det. Anthony Stephenson said.
He was taken in for questioning and has not been arrested.
A weapon was also found in a nearby dumpster, according to authorities.
Officials were still looking for a second potential suspect.
A motive for the shooting was unknown.
