Man Fatally Shot On Sidewalk In Commerce

COMMERCE (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a deadly shooting that took place in Commerce.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 2:50 a.m. to Eastern Avenue at Peachtree Street near 61st Street for report of a fatal shooting.

Upon their arrival, officials located an adult man believed to be in his 30s shot on a sidewalk in the area.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim rode his bicycle in the area. He was shot once in the upper torso.

Officials have diverted traffic in the area while detectives continue to search for evidence.

"We don't have any suspect that we are looking for at this time," said Lt. Holly Francisco.

At this time, no information regarding a motive for the shooting is available.

The investigation is ongoing.
