Man Fatally Shot In West LA; Gunman Remains At Large

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives on Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in West Los Angeles.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were sent to the 3100 block of Canfield Avenue for report of several shots fired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died.

According to the L.A. County Coroner's Office, the victim has been identified as James Gregory Jackson.

A preliminary investigation revealed Jackson was standing outside when an unknown suspect fired several shots at him.

At this time, no suspect description has been provided.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
