Worker, 23, Fatally Shot Inside Plumbing Business In Highland Park

HIGHLAND PARK (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old man was found fatally shot Monday inside a plumbing store in Highland Park.

Police responded to a shots fired call shortly before 1 p.m. in the 3600 block of Pasadena Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim, identified by family members as Irving Serrano, was pronounced dead at the scene.

KCAL9's Greg Mills said Serrano, of Glassell Park, was shot in the doorway of the business.

"We grew up together and it's kinda hard to deal with right now," the victim's friend said. "I've been with him this whole weekend. We just found out about this today. It's unexpected, especially because it happened on this job."

No suspect information was released.

It's unknown if the incident was gang-related.
