Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Hawaiian Gardens

HAWAIIAN GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Saturday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Hawaiian Gardens.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent to the 22300 block of Joliet Avenue for report of a man down.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

"Witnesses stated that a dark colored vehicle was seen driving North on Joliet Avenue," Deputy Mike Barraza said. "The vehicle approached the victim, at which time an occupant fired multiple rounds at the victim striking him in the upper torso. The vehicle then fled out of view."

At this time, there is no description of the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
