Shooting Death Investigation Underway In Carson

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Carson.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 7:45 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of East Gladwick Avenue for report of a gunshot victim.

"Upon their arrival, deputies saw the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound," Deputy Kelvin Moody said.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect exited a two-door sedan and began shooting at the victim who stood with other acquaintances.

Gunfire struck the victim multiple times in his upper torso.

The suspect fled eastbound away from the scene. No description has been provided at this time.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
