Man Dies After Vehicle Crashes Into South LA Building

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed Friday after he crashed his vehicle into a building in South Los Angeles.

Just after 2 a.m., officers observed a vehicle speeding westbound on Broadway near 41st Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At one point, the vehicle almost crashed into a police cruiser before the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into a building.

Paramedics transported the unresponsive male driver to a hospital for treatment of fractured legs. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Coroner's officials have not yet released the identity of the driver.

According to police, paramedics also transported the victim's father-in-law who was a passenger in the vehicle. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

Police have closed Broadway between 40th and 44th streets until further notice.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
