Man Convicted Of Killing 4 During Memorial Gathering At Valley Village Restaurant
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A gunman who killed four people during a memorial gathering at a Los Angeles restaurant has been convicted of murder.
City News Service says Nerses Galstyan was convicted Tuesday for the 2010 shootings in Valley Village. The jury must now decide whether to recommend death or life in prison.
Galstyan, an Armenian citizen, opened fire on other guests during an argument at a restaurant where people had gathered to remember a friend killed in a traffic crash.
Prosecutors say Galstyan fired 50 shots, killing four people and wounding two.
His attorney argued that Galstyan shot in self-defense after someone pulled a gun on him.
Galstyan fled and was arrested in Kenmore, Washington. He was convicted of first- and second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and mayhem.
