Man Charged With Vehicular Manslaughter, DUI After Boy Killed, 6 Injured In OC Crash

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 41-year-old man was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence Tuesday after a young boy was killed and six others were injured in a crash over the weekend.

The multi-vehicle accident took place just before midnight Saturday at Euclid Street and West La Palma Avenue in Anaheim, according to police.

Gary Stephen Hunt was scheduled to be arraigned on a vehicular manslaughter charge and one count of driving under the influence of a drug causing injury.

A couple and their three children were waiting at a stoplight in a Toyota Camry when they were rear ended by a pickup police said Hunt was driving. A Honda Civic, carrying two people, was also involved in a chain reaction, officials said.

The family of five was taken to a hospital, where 10-year-old Isaiah Rafael Ramirez was pronounced dead. His mother, stepfather and two sisters suffered serious injuries but were expected to survive.

A man and a woman in the Honda were also treated for minor injuries.
