Man Charged With Leaving Toddler In Car During Student Pick-Up

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors have filed charges against a 48-year-old father for allegedly leaving his 2-year-old daughter inside a car with closed windows on a hot day.

Dennyal Sachen pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony child abuse and misdemeanor driving under the influence.

The district attorney's office says Sachen allegedly left the girl in the car while picking up another child at an El Segundo school on June 8.

Witnesses noticed the child some time later and called police. Sachen was arrested when he returned.

Prosecutors say Sachen's blood alcohol was 0.15 percent or more.

He's due back in court Sept. 28.
