Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Stabbing Of Woman At Pomona Motel

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 26-year-old man was charged with murder Wednesday in connection with last week's fatal stabbing of a woman at a Pomona motel.

Alexander Anthony Clever's arraignment was continued to Jan. 8, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said in a department statement.

The statement said prosecutors would recommend bail be set at over $1 million.

Clever is accused of fatally stabbing 35-year-old Yvette Silva on Nov. 29.

When authorities arrived to the 2400 block of South Garey Avenue, they discovered Silva dead in a motel bathroom.

Clever was arrested two days later, authorities said.

Prosecutors say the charging document alleges that Clever has been previously convicted of several counts, including carrying a dirk or dagger in 2011.

If convicted as charged, authorities say Clever could face a maximum term of 57 years to life in prison.
