Man Arrested After Barricading Self Inside Koreatown Apartment

KOREATOWN (CBSLA.com) — SWAT team members were called on Thursday to assist with a barricade situation located at an apartment complex in Koreatown.

Just after 3 a.m., officers were sent to 3rd Street and Normandie Avenue for report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned a domestic violence incident occurred after a male suspect threatened his boyfriend with scissors and other possible dangerous items.

Officers said the suspect has refused to exit the apartment, which is located on the third floor of the building.

The suspect's boyfriend was able to exit the complex without injuries.

At this time, no hostages are being held inside of the apartment.

However, authorities have evacuated residents in the building as a precaution.

A SWAT team has been called to assist at the scene.
