Standoff Ends In Beverly Grove After Suspect Is Found Dead

BEVERLY GROVE (CBSLA.com) — An armed man who barricaded himself inside a home in the Beverly Grove area was found dead Thursday morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The standoff began at about 5 p.m. in the 600 block of N. Edinburgh Ave. CBS2/KCAL9's Tom Wait reported that the entire area around Melrose and Crescent Heights was locked down.

On Wednesday night, a call came into possibly either the FBI or possibly through the LAPD. That information has not been confirmed yet.

Authorities arrived at the scene where a child and a woman were inside with the man. The authorities were worried that he was armed so they began a negotiation process.

A woman and a child possibly being held by the suspect left the building at about 7:30 p.m.

The suspect was found dead at about 2 a.m. Thursday. His name was withheld, pending family notification.
