Man Barricaded In Azusa Home Surrenders, Kids Released Unharmed

AZUSA (CBSLA.com/AP) -- Southern California authorities say a domestic-violence suspect who barricaded himself in a home with two children surrendered after releasing the kids unharmed.

Police in Azusa say officers were sent to the residence early Monday after receiving a 911 call of a possible assault. Officers found a woman with non-life threatening injuries. She was hospitalized in unknown condition.

A standoff began when the suspect, an unidentified man, holed up inside with a 12-year old boy and a 17-month-old girl. The man released the children a few hours later and eventually he gave himself up.

The two were believed to be the girl's parents, but it wasn't immediately clear if the children belonged to the suspect or the woman.

Sheriff's SWAT team members assisted an Azusa police SWAT team in the investigation.
