Man Arrested At Mexican Border In Connection To 2011 Attempted Murder

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A 32-year-old man wanted in connected with the attempted murder of two men in Downey two years ago was arrested at the Mexican border and is behind bars in San Diego.

Orlando Villalobos arrived at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on foot, without identification early on Monday afternoon, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

It was revealed that Villalobos was the subject of an arrest warrant following a fingerprint check.

A South Gate resident, Villalobos was booked into San Diego Central Jail is to be held without bail, pending transfer to Los Angeles County Jail for prosecution, according to the public affairs department of the CBP.

Villalobos was one of three men who allegedly got into an argument on November 19, 2011, at 9 p.m., with two other men. The argument took place in the 11400 block of Horton Avenue.

As the argument continued to escalate, Villalobos' cohorts drew pistols and shot the two other men, resulting in serious wounds to the victims.

Villalobos, along with the other suspects, fled in a 2006 black Ford F-150 that belonged to one of the victims, according to reports.
