Man Arrested After Pursuit In Downey

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A man has been arrested after leading the California Highway Patrol on a high-speed pursuit that ended in Downey.

According to the CHP, officers tried to pull over a two-door silver Infinity sedan about 6:40 p.m. on a registration violation when the driver took off.

The chase began in East Los Angeles on the southbound 710 Freeway, south of Washington Boulevard.

The 20-minute chase ended in Downey at Springer Street and Birchdale Avenue when the driver suddenly pulled over, jumped out of the car and took off on foot.

The suspect ran into his house while officers were close behind. With guns drawn, officers took the suspect into custody in the backyard shortly after.
