Man Calls Police After Finding Suspected Bomb In Car They Believe He Stole

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A man believed to have stolen a car called officers Thursday to say he needed them to respond to a bomb he found inside the vehicle, police said.

Johnny Herrera, 19, called police around 4:10 p.m., Sgt. Kathryn Hamel said.

Authorities instructed Herrera to drive to a remote location but he instead waited for the Fullerton police bomb squad in the 4000 block of Franklin Avenue. It was there that the Fullerton resident was arrested.

The bomb squad and K-9 unit found no threat inside the vehicle, a white four-door sedan that had been reported stolen Wednesday in Fullerton.
