Man allegedly armed with knife shot by police in El Monte

A man allegedly armed with a knife was shot by police in El Monte Wednesday night.

Officers from the El Monte Police Department received calls just before 11 p.m. on the 10000 block of Bodger Street.

When officers arrived, neighbors claimed a man armed with a knife was threatening them.

Officers gave the man verbal commands to drop the knife before he allegedly aggressed toward an officer, and that is when police shot him.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and booked into custody.

Police recovered a knife at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
