Man Accused Of Hitting Current, Ex-Girlfriend With Car Charged With Attempted Murder
SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A man accused of hitting his current and ex-girlfriends with his car and dragging them as he drove away was charged Monday with attempted murder.
Miguel Angel Jimenez, Jr., 18, of Sylmar, will be arraigned Monday on two felony counts each of attempted murder, mayhem, torture and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. Jimenez also faces a misdemeanor count each of corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant/child's parent and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license.
The accident happened Nov. 26, 2013, at a Lakeview Terrace home, when prosecutors say he became involved in a physical altercation with the two 17-year-old girls. As he tried to flee the scene, Jimenez allegedly struck and dragged the girls, who were caught under his 2007 Dodge Charger.
When the girls were dislodged from under the car, Jimenez left them severely injured on the road as he continued to drive away, prosecutors said.
Friends and family of the girls described them as being Jimenez's ex- and current girlfriend, one of whom was possibly pregnant.
Jimenez, who is being held on $4.3 million bail, faces life in state prison if convicted.
