Man Accused Of Assaulting Off-Duty Firefighter Flees Ventura County Courthouse

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A man accused of assaulting an off-duty firefighter fled the Ventura County Courthouse in Simi Valley on Thursday.

Devin Lamar Kelley was at the courthouse for a hearing on an assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection to the Oct. 26, 2013 incident. Authorities said he decided to make a run for it.

The judge presiding over Kelley's case issued a warrant for his arrest.

Kelley may be driving a 2006 grey 2-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo with California license plate number 5TEX190.

The Simi Valley Police Department has asked the public to call 911 if they happen to encounter the suspect.
