Man, 49, Faces Hate Crime Charges In Anti-Semitic Vandalism Case
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 49-year-old man is facing multiple hate crime charges for allegedly vandalizing a San Fernando Valley business with anti-Semitic graffiti on multiple occasions.
Amos Hason, who is being held on $68,000 bail, was arrested Saturday on three counts of vandalism and three counts of a hate crime against a Jewish business owner.
According to the district attorney, surveillance video caught Hason painting swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti on the rear fence and dumpster behind a Van Nuys plumbing business twice in April.
"Among the anti-Semitic graffiti was the message, 'Adolf was right. Kill Jews!' with a swastika at the end," officials said.
If convicted, Hason faces up the three years in jail and $15,000 in fines. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Van Nuys court house.
Hason also has two previous convictions for weapons possession.
