Man, 24, Arrested In Connection With Fatal Stabbing On Metro Red Line

EAST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they've made an arrest in connection with last week's fatal stabbing of a man on a Metro Red Line in East Hollywood.

Angelo Correa, 24, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in connection with the fatal stabbing of 34-year-old Jose Velasco-Alvarado on Jan. 13.

The incident unfolded about 9:18 a.m. Monday near the Vermont/Santa Monica Station.

Velasco-Alvarado was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said they were led to Correa after receiving an anonymous tip.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Correa's North Hollywood home on Friday. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked at the West Hollywood Station.

Metro said the deadly stabbing marked the second homicide in its 20-year history.
