Man, 22, Fatally Shot While Walking In Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man was fatally shot while walking on a Van Nuys street early Wednesday morning.

Police said Ramiro Melendez-Lobos was walking southbound on Cedros Avenue at Delano Street around 6:45 a.m. when an unknown Latino approached and fired a handgun at him multiple times.

Melendez-Loboz was struck and fell to the sidewalk.

Witnesses said the suspect ran to a waiting light gray Honda or Acura sedan. The suspect entered the passenger side of the car and left the scene westbound on DeLano.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Melendez-Lobos dead.

The gun used was a semi-automatic handgun. The suspect remains at-large.
