Suspect Taken Into Custody After Oxnard Barricade Situation

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of committing several felonies has been taken into custody after barricading himself in an Oxnard apartment for two hours, authorities said.

The Oxnard Police Department says the man surrendered to its SWAT team Sunday morning.

The incident initially unfolded about 7 a.m. after police received a call of a felony sexual assault and possible kidnapping suspect in the 3500 block of Samuel Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with the suspect who police say was uncooperative.

The barricade situation prompted authorities to evacuate six apartments and shut streets down.

Police said the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Lawrence Beasley of Oxnard, has since been arrested on suspicion of committing several felony crimes.

Anyone with more information about this incident was asked to call Detective Dale McApline at (805) 385-3921.
