'Major' Gas Leak Reported Near USC

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A construction crew ruptured a 2-inch natural gas line at USC Monday morning, but no one was hurt.

The leak was reported at 3722 S. Vermont Ave. at 7:21 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The location is a seven-story business building is undergoing construction.

While the rupture was being repaired, campus officials advised cars and pedestrians to stay away from the area. The area was declared safe and open for regular business at 9:19 a.m.
