Irwindale Police Investigating Mail Theft, Check Cashing

IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — Irwindale police are asking for the public's help in locating the person or persons responsible for stealing checks and other mail from five different businesses.

The mail was taken Oct. 27 from commercial businesses in the 4800 block of Fourth Street, according to Detective Sgt. George Zendejas. Police have released a photo of a man they believe pried open the mailboxes and stole checks that were then cashed at nearby locations.

Other businesses reported signs that their mailboxes were tampered with.

Police used surveillance video to come up with a possible suspect vehicle, Zendejas said, and have photos of a suspect from one of the businesses where a stolen check was cashed.

Anyone with information about the thefts, or who can identify the suspect or vehicle in the photos, is asked to contact Irwindale police Detective Jose Vargas at (626) 430-2290.
