Mail Sent To DMV Offices In Riverside Stolen

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — About 30 pieces of incoming mail were stolen from the mailboxes outside the DMV Riverside Call Center and DMV East Riverside Field Offices, DMV officials said Friday in an alert to customers.

The thefts happened during the weekends of March 21 and March 28 and may have involved personal information from customers, DMV Director Jean Shiomoto said.

"We are taking action to inform our customers about the unauthorized access to their mailed information, and are closely working with law enforcement on this matter," Shiomoto said in a statement.

The DMV is unable to identify who sent the mail because it was incoming, and is urging anyone who sent mail to the Riverside Call Center or East Riverside Field Office that may have arrived on either of those weekends to call 1-800-777-0133 to inquire about the status of their correspondence.
