Machete-Wielding Man Wounded In Officer-Involved Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — Authorities said police shot and wounded a man wielding a machete or sword in South Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.

Officials said the incident took place around 4 p.m. in the area of 64th and Main Streets, according to Officer Wendy Reyes of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Police said they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call and happened upon the suspect.

After a brief chase, they said the man ducked into a building where an OIS took place.

The unidentified suspect was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available, Reyes said.

She said no officers were injured in the incident.
