Lucerne Valley Man, 60, Accused Of Murdering His Younger Brother

LUCERNE VALLEY (CBSLA.com)  —  A 60-year-old Lucerne Valley man is behind bars Friday, accused in the killing of his younger brother.

Deputies assigned to Lucerne Valley were called to a residence in the 33200 block of Crescent Road on Thursday just before 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found Alvin Earl Hanner, 54, deceased.

Authorities said Hanner was suffering from "significant" physical trauma. Detectives from the Sheriff's Homicide Detail were dispatched to the location to take over the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned Hanner's older brother, Leroy Jerome Franks, lives at the same location.

Authorities suspect Franks assaulted Hanner inside the home and reportedly notified a neighbor about what he had done.

The official cause of death is pending an autopsy. Franks was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Hanner's death.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Detective Ryan Smith or Sgt. Jason Radeleff at (909) 387-3589.
