Stolen vehicle pursuit near Hollywood ends after long standoff

A slow-moving stolen vehicle pursuit that started near Hollywood ended after a lengthy standoff Monday night.

The driver slowly led LAPD officers through city streets in Hollywood and Los Feliz. Officers tried to use the PIT maneuver on the suspect in Hollywood but failed to disable the slow-moving SUV. 

The suspect continued through Los Feliz before officers successfully used the PIT maneuver and stranded the vehicle in a dirt patch. Police and the driver remained in a standoff for about an hour until LAPD deployed less-than-lethal munitions. The suspect was then taken into custody.
