Los Angeles Is Nation's Second Deadliest City For Pedestrians
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles is the second deadliest city in the nation for pedestrians, according to the National Highway Safety Administration.
Of the city's 242 traffic-related deaths in 2012, 99 of them — or 41 percent — were pedestrians, according to newly released date from the NHSA, which studied cities that have 500,000 residents or more.
Los Angeles is second only to New York, which saw 127 pedestrian fatalities that same year.
Statewide, 612 of California's 2,857 traffic fatalities were pedestrians.
