Los Altos H.S. Teacher Accused Of Having Sexual Relationship With Student, 15

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities have accused a Los Altos High School chemistry teacher of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said David Park, 37, of Chino Hills was involved with the unidentified student last year.

Park was charged with three felony counts of lewd act upon a child.

Park is expected to be arraigned March 9 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona. Bail was set at $150,000.

Prosecutors said at the time of the alleged relationship, Park worked at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights.

Authorities were alerted by a school official that Park may have been having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, prosecutors said.

The criminal complaint alleges that the defendant had sexual interactions with the teen between September and November 2014.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of four years and four months in state prison. Additionally, he would have to register as a sex offender for life.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
