Long Beach Woman Identified As Victim Found Dead In OC Building; Suspect Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) —A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old woman who was found dead inside a business in Newport Beach.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, Nain Isaac Nieto Hernandez, 29, was taken into custody at his home in Santa Ana this morning.

The Orange County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Sarai Alcaraz, of Long Beach. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.

Officers said Hernandez and Alcaraz had never met before.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, officers received a call regarding suspicious circumstances regarding the safety of a young woman who was last seen at an office building located in the 5000 block of Campus Drive, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

The callers were concerned about their associate who was last seen an hour or two earlier. They had searched for their colleague after she stopped responding to text messages and phone calls, but were unable to find her.

Upon their arrival to Robert Borders & Associates located in the corporate plaza, authorities discovered the body of a deceased woman inside of the building.

Detectives said they are currently investigating the incident as a homicide pending autopsy and toxicology reports from the coroner's office.

At this time, it remains unclear why both Hernandez and Alcaraz were inside of the business complex that night.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident has been urged to contact the Newport Beach Police Department at (800) 550-NBPD.
